The burning zeal for souls and the constant effort to reach different parts of the world to care the destitute, the lonely, the unloved kept Rev. Dr. Jose Kaimlett, our founder moving towards his priestly ministry and Mission.

Rev. Dr. Jose Kaimlett was born on 5th May 1941 as the fourth among the ten children; to the late parents of Mr. Kuriakose and Anna, in a middle class family at Palakattumala, in the diocese of Palai, Kottayam district. We rejoice and glad that God has showered so much of blessings and graces through Dr. Jose Kaimlett as an instrument to the Universal Church and particularly to the Society of Sisters of Good News. Our Founder has firm belief that a Missionary Society of Apostolic life could help the Universal Church in its felt need of the time.

Almighty God used Rev. Dr. Jose Kaimlett as an instrument of love to bring forth a New Society in the diocese of Eluru. Drawing inspiration from the Gospel “The Harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few” in the felt need of the time, Sisters of Good News took root and sprouted on 5th May 1990. As visible sign of the new Society the foundation was laid on 12th December 1992. On 29th June 1993 the first house of Sisters of Good News at Vegavaram was inaugurated by Rt. Rev. Dr. John Mulagada, Bishop of Eluru, Rt. Rev. Dr. Marampudi Joji, Bishop of Khammam, Rev. Dr. Jose Kaimlett, our Founder in the presence of many priests and religious. His Grace Most. Rev. John Mulagada, Bishop of Eluru, put his seal of approval on the preliminary Constitutions of the Society.

Sisters of Good News is a Missionary Society of Apostolic life leading community life, taking the promise of Evangelical counsels of Poverty, Chastity and Obedience to respond effectively to the needs of the time. The object of the Society is to work for the glory of God by the evangelization of the people and by the sanctification of its members following the rules and regulations of the Society.

The first house at Vegavaram presently used as the Novitiate. The first group of candidates made their first profession on 1st February 1995. Over the years our Society has made rapid progress both in the number of sisters and their activities. At present we are 120 members in total and have seventeen communities serving in India, five in Italy and three in Tanzania. Through the guidance and direction of Rev. Dr. Jose Kaimlett we are also serving the poorest of the poor, marginalized and other sections of the Society by imparting value based education to the people. Presently we have ten such schools mostly caring for the up-liftment and value based education for the hundreds of villages in the remote areas. We are engaged in the field of education, medical, home for the aged and social work.

The specific purpose of the Society is “to train dedicated, hard working and saintly sisters and send them wherever there is need”. Imbibing the spirit of the constitutions for the training and formation of candidates the Society runs five formation centers. In the beginning Rev. Sr. Rosily pullely was the delegate superior and Rev Sr. Anne Mathew was the Mother General from 2000- 2006 April. Rev. Sr. Josephina Orathel was elected as the Mother General on 26th April 2006- 2012. She is being re-elected on 26th April 2012 as Mother General of Sisters of Good News.The present mother general Rev.Sr.Rosily Pullely was elected on 13th January 2018. After being grateful to the Almighty God, we can never forget our Founder Very Rev. Dr. Jose Kaimlett, who is behind every step of our progress. May God bless him with His eternal bliss. We are confident that with the help of our Lord and our sincere efforts coupled with the heavenly intercession of our beloved late Founder, striving up for the Charism of our society; “to work for the glory of God by evangelization”.
